Alaska Airlines Offering One Free Premium Class Upgrade Every Day This Summer

Each day this summer, Alaska Airlines will award at least one lucky guest seated in Main Cabin with a free upgrade to Premium Class in a new promotion called ‘upgrade unlocked.’

The promotion runs from June 1 through September 2. Each day, at least one lucky guest, along with their travel partner, if they have one, will be notified via the Alaska Airlines mobile app or by email that they’ve been randomly selected for a free upgrade to Premium Class.

Premium Class onboard Alaska Airlines is typically reserved for loyalty program elite members or for purchase. Travelers can now purchase their Premium or First Class upgrades up to 30 minutes before departure.

Premium Class offers more legroom, custom-designed leather seats and free beer, wine and cocktails for passengers 21 and older traveling on most flights over 350 miles. They also receive priority boarding.

“Upgrade unlocked is one way we’re showing guests our appreciation for choosing to fly with us to their favorite destinations this summer,” said Eric Edge, managing director of marketing and advertising at Alaska Airlines. “Premium Class is just one of the many premium products and services we offer to our guests, including our best-in-class lounges, the freshest West Coast food and beverage line-up and our award-winning Mileage Plan program with the fastest path to elite status.”

“Whether it’s their first time or they’ve experienced Premium Class before – we can’t wait to hear from our guests who receive this surprise upgrade,” Edge continued.

Also new this month, Premium Class and Main Cabin passengers on long-distance flights of 1,100 miles or more will also now be able to pre-order hot meals to enjoy during their flight. Dishes may include Panang Curry Chicken and a Monte Cristo Breakfast Sandwich.
