Isaac has already become a hurricane while Joyce remains a tropical storm.
Helene impacted several airports in the southern United States, including the world’s busiest in Atlanta.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reports that Hurricane Isaac is now a Category 2. However, significant impacts are not anticipated. But a hurricane is nonetheless a hurricane and as we saw with Helene it can be deadly with high winds and rains that all cause flooding.
Joyce bears watching and could affect the Caribbean.
“Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for additional development thereafter while the system moves generally northwestward, and a tropical depression could form by the middle of next week as the system enters the Gulf of Mexico,” the NHC said.
