A 32-year-old woman fell asleep soon after boarding the flight. When she woke up and the plane was still on the ground, she thought she had arrived at her destination. But the plane was delayed and she was still in Dayton. When she realized this situation, she became irate.
“She was advised the plane was delayed and she was asleep in her seat. She woke up and believed she had arrived at her destination, but was still in Dayton,” according to a Dayton Police incident report. “She stated she asked the flight attendant for a drink but was denied.”
A passenger sitting next to the woman asked to have her seat moved because she felt the woman was intoxicated. The unruly passenger became belligerent when she realized that she would miss her connecting flight to her final destination. She also refused to switch her phone to airplane mode.
Since the plane was still on the ground, the woman was asked to leave. She declined. The captain returned to the original departure gate in Dayton where the police took over and forcibly removed the woman, but airline rules dictate that all passengers must leave the aircraft. One of the responding officers noted in his report that he detected a “strong odor of alcohol on her breath” and that her “attitude would fluctuate up and down.”
